How this started
We were in the early stages of building a next-gen AI application. The technology was exciting. The team was ready. And then someone asked the most basic question in the room:
“What exactly are we building? And what is it going to cost?”
Nobody had a proper answer. We had ideas scattered across docs, rough notes in a shared file, and a spreadsheet from two weeks ago that three people had edited and nobody trusted. We spent two days in workshops trying to get to a structured breakdown of the work: who does what, how long, what each discipline costs. Two days in. Still not aligned.
The pain wasn't the technology. It was the planning blindspot. The gap between “we have a great idea” and “here is exactly what we are committing to build, who builds each part, and what the honest budget is.”
